I feel like clicking my heels together and popping into my comfort zone today. I miss my tribe and hometown on my favorite holiday. I miss crackin' a beer as I snap my fancy pack stuffed with cash and my ID. I miss the light hearted rush of getting out to the fun as to not miss out on a second of 4th of July festivities.
I woke up looking for Toto and hearing the Blue Angels ripping up the sky over head. I was listening for the sirens that kick off the parade and there was none of that. It is hardly another day in my world today.
I caught myself going straight to Facebook for a flag, a sparkler, and a familiar face. I caught myself homesick. I spent about 3 hours sulking in my woes this morning tallying up all that I am missing out on.
Homesick steals my presence so without another moment spent being the Mayor of Pity City, I am going to tell what I KNOW I have and am incredibly grateful for!
🇺🇸I HAVE a family to miss! GAH! <- I can practically stop there!
🇺🇸My tribe is happy, healthy, and fun-loving.
🇺🇸Social media, texts, and phone calls all shorten the distance from everyone and everything when my ego tries to tell me I am alone.
🇺🇸I woke up today!
🇺🇸I live in (what seems like) the hottest place on earth and have a pool to go jump into!
🇺🇸I got to stay with a cousin last night and have more beautiful family here to get to celebrating with!
🇺🇸I started researching and it seems like AZ has it's own way of celebrating this holiday which means I get to see and learn something new!
🇺🇸Oh, uhhhh, did I mention MY FREEDOM!?!
🇺🇸Life is too good.
"There's no place like home and no people like family." AND the other people and places can be as great as they are different.
Amen to this day, peeps.
May your glasses be full and your smiles wide.
May your hearts burst as loud as the fireworks.
May your love and gratitude grow.
Happiest 4th of July to you and yours.
