Happiest Labor Day, lovers! Labor Day is a day that we celebrate the progress of the 'labor movement.'
Time lapse: one photo is my Dad helping me gut and remodel my first solo apartment in Whiting 2 years ago.
The other two are him helping move into my new apartment in Gilbert 2 weeks ago.
When I think of labor, I think about my Dad's hands. I think about his tan skin from shingling roof and laying block. I think about his cut off shirts and paint splattered boots. He has always been there for me and I can always count on his labor AND his love.
Essentially, Labor Day is a celebration of the American dream and the freedoms that we have to pursue work that we love WHILE being treated fairly as we do it! This holiday has a special place in my heart because what labor 'looks like' has evolved over generations and decades. The concept of working for your dream has certainly withstood the test of time.
People standing for freedom of self expression truly makes my heart tingle with appreciation. Feeling free to create our own work and thrive in it is not a new concept. Yet, it looks a little different with each generation and even every year.
So whatever your labor looks like, love it.
However your love shows up, is labor that doesn't have to be 'hard work.'
May you spread your love.
May you live your joy.
May your labor be lighthearted.
May you be an example of the labor movement today and every day.
