I have sooooooo much gratitude for the days I plan a sleep in sesh. I intentionally don't set myself up to have anything to do before 2pm. I am sure to schedule a few of these days a month to take care of my body's need to sleep until it cannot sleep anymore.
The weeks and months get so busy (for most of us I am sure) that I often catch myself wishing I were a machine that didn't need rest and food....but I am not...and I do....
Before understanding SELF-care, I would go, go, go until my body is screaming "ABBY, STOP!" and I would be tired, crabby, cry-ie, and very ineffective. I used to make feeling tired mean I was weak, like I couldn't handle adulthood. I resented my 'humanity' slowing me down on my way to the top of my mountains.
Well, I've stopped rushing to the tops of those mountains. I can rest along the journey because, get this, the journey IS THE POINT!!! AND no one is timing me but Me!!! Whew! -Cue the peace of mind and permission to sleep!
Nowadays, I love cycling all the way through a full sleep. I get to enjoy my rest instead of timing it to be over and get going again. I invite you to slow down long enough to enjoy the journey. While your at it, drop your bags and rest a bit.
